Hillerich & Bradsby model K48 was used by Ozzie Virgil likely in the minor leagues with the Phoenix Giants in 1966, 1967, or 1968. The bat shows heavy signs of wear, but only minimal game use with a few surface indentations and a few scattered cleat marks. The handle has traces of pine tar and it is not cracked. The knob is stamped with the model number (K48). Nothing is written on either end.
Ozzie Virgil wasn’t the greatest player MLB has ever seen, but his significance as the first Dominican player in MLB history cannot be denied.
