Hillerich & Bradsby model C235 was used by Bill Madlock with the Chicago Cubs either during his rookie season of 1974 or the season after, 1975, when he batted .354 and had 1982 hits, which was a career best mark. The bat shows tremendous use. Many ball marks and deeply embedded seam impressions are visible on the left barrel surface. The barrel has been “Yosh Marked” with the model number (C235) just to the right of the center label in black marker. The handle has a moderate coat of pine tar and a pair of slight cracks just behind the center label. The knob is stamped with the model number (C235), and Madlock’s #18 is written in black marker.
Madlock has signed the sweet spot in black. The signature is personalized “To Paul” and he added “Best Wishes”.
