Description
New Era size 7 1/8 home hat was worn by Barry Larkin with the Cincinnati Reds during the 1998 season. The hat shows great wear including bleeding of the red brim up into the crown and sweat stains throughout. Larkin has written the #3 on the front of the hat twice in black sharpie. While the meaning of those two numbers are unknown, there’s a good chance the #3 is to support teammate Pokey Reese. While diving for a ball, Reese tore a ligament in his right thumb and needed surgery. Under the brim, Larkin’s #11 is written in blue marker. Larkin has signed the brim in black sharpie.
The hat was purchased from the Cincinnati Reds on 10/30/98 per written notes on an invoice from the Reds Dugout store.
