Description
Louisville Slugger model R205 was used by Andres Galarraga with the Colorado Rockies between 1993 and 1997. The bat shows outstanding use with a crack in the upper handle. Numerous ball marks and seam impressions are visible on the left barrel surface. Some slight grain swelling is present and there are a few cleat marks. The handle has a light coat of pine tar. Upper handle crack lies flat, approximately 6″ in length. The lower handle shows natural wood with ghosting and pine tar void from removed handle tape. White athletic tape wrapped around the handle has been seen in several photos of Galarraga at bat and the fact that the tape had been present, although unfortunate that it was removed, is a great use characteristic for Galarraga. Nothing is written on either end. Bat has been autographed on the front barrel by Galarraga in silver.
This bat was acquired from a former Rockies bat boy. Galarraga had some monster numbers for the Rockies between 1993 and 1997. He batted .370 in 1993, had 190 and 191 hits in 1996 and 1997, and had 47 and 41 HRs those same years.
