Mattingly Bat Company model MB174A was used by Jason Giambi with the New York Yankees between 2006 and 2008. The bat is a hard to find Mattingly Bat Company bat, which was a company started by former Yankee star, Don Mattingly. The center label of the bats feature a likeness of Mattingly hitting and are somewhat collectible simply because of the connection to the former Yankee. I’m unsure exactly how many of these particular bats saw game action, but this Giambi bat does show excellent use and is not cracked. Numerous ball marks, seam impressions, and ink transfers are visible on the right barrel surface so while the bat was for sure tried out by Giambi, whether it saw game action or not is impossible to know. The handle has a light coat of pine tar and is not cracked. Nothing is written on the knob, but Giambi’s #25 is written inside the cupped barrel end in black marker.
