Reebok size 12 1/2 cleats were worn by outfielder Bernard Gilkey with the New York Mets during the 1998 season. They show excellent wear with dirt stains present on the uppers and scuffing and dirt on the bottoms of the soles. Gilkey’s #23 is written boldly on the back of each heel.
Gilkey wore #23 almost his entire career, which started in 1990 with the St. Louis Cardinals. He remained there until January of 1996 when he was traded to the New York Mets. He was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in July of 1998 and was released by the Diamondbacks in June of 2000. He was signed by the Boston Red Sox in July of 2000 and became a free agent in November of 2000. After playing in 69 games for the Atlanta Braves in 2001 he retired after the season.
