Description
Old Hickory model JH07 was used by #1 prospect Jackson Holliday during his 2022 minor league season while playing with the FCL Orioles and then the Delmarva Shorebirds. The bat shows outstanding use with a full handle break that has been secured with tape. There are a few smaller missing pieces but the bat would be a solid choice for professional repair if desired.
Many ball marks, light seam impressions, and ink transfers are visible on the front, right, left, and back barrel surfaces. A few cleat marks are also present. The handle has a moderate to heavy coat of pine tar and a full break. There are no markings on either the knob or barrel end. Holliday has signed the sweet spot in silver and he added his Delmarva Shorebirds #13.
Holliday had several milestone moments using this bat. First and foremost, he used this bat during his professional debut on August 10. It was during this game and with this bat that Holliday got his first professional hit. I have photo matched the bat to that at-bat. In addition to his first pro hit, I am attributing this bat to his first professional home run on August 19. Unfortunately I’ve only found video of the home run and no still images or close ups so an exact photo match has not been found. It is a clear style match though and I have photo matches from games after that date so it is most likely the same bat. I also have matches to his Shorebirds game on August 25th when he made his first Single-A hit. A video I found on YouTube shows Holliday breaking a similarly colored bat in the same manner as this one on September 7, 2022. I purchased this bat from a Delmarva Shorebirds bat boy and I have his letter of provenance. He received the bat directly from Holliday after it was broken and got it signed after the game.
Holliday has been on a tear in 2023 and likely sees MLB next season. This is easily the single most important Jackson Holliday item (game used bat or otherwise) to hit the market.
