Louisville Slugger model M272 was used by Eddie Murray with the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 1989 season. The bat shows outstanding use and is not cracked, but there is a large section of the back barrel that has split off. Numerous ball marks, seam impressions, and black ink transfers are visible on the right and left barrel surfaces and there is severe grain separation from repeated contact. My belief that the bat was used in BP is due to the voids in the black ink transfers. It appears that transfers on both the right and left barrel were cut in half due to tape removal. However, the majority of the barrel does not appear to have been taped so it is also possible that the tape was only placed to hold the barrel together and that it was just a heavily used gamer. The handle has a moderate coat of pine tar and is not cracked. The lower 12″ of the handle have been shaved/scored for grip. Murray’s #33 is written on the knob and barrel end in black marker. Red slash marks surround the 33 on the knob.
From a display standpoint, this is a very visually appealing bat. Game use and condition on the other hand leave a lot to be desired. Priced accordingly.
