Louisville Slugger model R43 was used by Ozzie Virgil, Jr with the Atlanta Braves between 1986 and 1989. The bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack. Many ball marks and seam impressions are visible on the front, right, and left barrel surfaces. Grain swelling from repeated contact is present on both the right and left barrels and there is very slight separation. The upper handle has moderate coat of pine tar. It is cracked at the mid-handle. There is a 5-inch application of athletic tape a few inches up from the knob. This characteristic taping pattern is visible in at least one photo of Virgil. Virgil’s #9 is written on both the knob and barrel end.
