Description
Rawlings model 170A was used by Luis Salazar with the Chicago White Sox during the 1985 season. The bat shows heavy use and is not cracked. However the barrel has split in multiple places and it appears that the bat may possibly be corked. This likely has contributed to the splitting of the barrel.
Many ball marks, seam impressions, and ink transfers are visible on the front, right, left, and back barrel surfaces. There is significant grain swelling on both the right and left barrel surfaces and the barrel has split in several places. The handle remains uncracked and has a moderate coat of pine tar. The lower 9″ has been spiral taped for grip and it is heavily stained with pine tar. The knob is stamped with the model number (170A), batch code (190), and year code (5) for 1985. Salazar’s #5 is written in white. Nothing is written on the barrel end.
