Description

Hillerich & Bradsby model B267 was used by Vada Pinson with either the California Angels or Kansas City Royals between 1973 and 1975. The bat shows outstanding use and is not cracked but there is some slight grain separation on the barrel.

Many ball marks and seam impressions are visible on the front, right, and left barrel surfaces. Several cleat scuffs are visible and there is grain swelling and some separation present from repeated contact present on both the right and left barrel surfaces. The handle has a light coat of pine tar and is not cracked.

The knob is stamped with the model number (R161). Pinson’s initials (V.P.) are written in black marker on both the knob and barrel end. In addition to the previously mentioned markings, there is also a small blacked out area present that may have obscured additional markings.

In an 18-year career, playing for the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, California Angels, and Kansas City Royals, Pinson appeared in 2469 games, compiling a .286 batting average, with 2757 hits, 1365 runs, 485 doubles, 127 triples, 256 home runs, 1169 RBI, 305 stolen bases, 574 walks, .327 on-base percentage and .442 slugging percentage. He had four 200+ hit seasons in 1959, ’61, ’63 and ’65, batting over .300 in each season. He recorded a career .981 fielding percentage and was a two-time gold glove winner (1961 and 1962).
